BUDCT, i.e., Bombay University Department of Chemical Technology is a world-famous institute for education in chemical engineering and chemical technology.

SKILLS
1. Techno-commercial expertise in Industrial Market Research and competitive intelligence, especially in chemicals. Over fifteen years experience since 1987. Also, knowledge and experience in international marketing (exports) of chemicals.

Currently employed as Export Manager-Technical by a US $ 50 million chemical manufacturer-exporter. Looking after new business development for exports, competitive business intelligence gathering and report preparation for strategy development to enhance exports, customer complaints, co-ordination with R & D for new products development, export documentation, ISO compliance, collection of technical and commercial information from Internet and library (Since 2001). Main source for getting all technical and business information speedily. Supporting R&D for patents search and download from various web sites. Visited Switzerland, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Lived in Singapore for over one month. Using the Internet creatively, a new customer was identified, which gave Rs. 9.5 crores business in few months during 2002-03.

Worked as Market Research Manager in the same company (1998-2001) to carry out global market research for chemicals, mainly secondary data collection through various sources including Internet. Prepared techno-commercial reports on many chemicals, which were used for decision making by the management. Also actively involved in technical literature surveys in close association with R&D department.

Worked with a Government research laboratory to carry out project evaluation and pre-research appraisals. (1992-1993)

Carried out many market surveys, literature surveys (technical and commercial), on various organic and inorganic chemicals, polymers and specialty chemicals, drugs and agrochemicals intermediates, dyes and pigments intermediates, using print-media, CD-ROM as well as Internet; as a part of consultancy assignments and during employment.

Published about 100 techno-commercial review papers and literature surveys on various chemicals in the leading Indian chemical trade journal, Chemical Weekly as well as others. Also, one paper on Vegetable Oils of India has been published in the oils and soaps journal, Inform, USA. One chapter on Oleochemicals was published in a book - a three-volume Treatise on Fats, Fatty Acids and Oleochemicals, published in 1995 at New Delhi, India.

EXPERIENCE

Used novel techniques to identify new customer, resulting in about Rs. 9.5 crores business from a single customer during 2002-03.

3/1998-4/2001: Worked as a Market Research Manager, at the same chemical company, looking after market research for a variety of chemicals, especially organic and inorganic intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, collection of patent and techno-commercial information.

7/1995-2/1998: Freelance Techno-commercial Consultant. Carried out market surveys and business development activities for a variety of chemicals. Conducted historical research on how King Shivaji escaped from Agra in 1666, authored a book in Marathi language and published in 1997. It won two literary awards subsequently.

9/1993-6/1995: R & D Executive at Shebro Mfg. CO., Mumbai. Lead a team of cosmetic chemists and perfumers and reported to Company Director. Involved in development of perfumes and cosmetic products as well as their commercialization. Also involved in marketing of perfume bases and blends.

6/1992-9/1993: Scientist C at National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune. Involved in Marketing, Market Research, Project and Technology evaluation activities in Project Planning & Development Unit attached to the Director Office.
